Our mission is to promote the field of intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring and foster the development of the profession through education and certification, so as to provide optimum patient care.

Welcome to CANM

Intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring (IONM) is an established field of allied healthcare critical in protecting the nervous system of patients undergoing surgery. In 2008, CANM was formed as Canada's national association representing IONM professionals. Over the past decades IONM has become a critical adjunct to many neurosurgical procedures resulting in an increased demand for IONM services in Canada and around the world. Therefore, over the next few years CANM will enact a comprehensive education and accreditation initiative that includes online learning modules, establishment of standards and a CANM accreditation examination. We anticipate that this innovative strategy will advance best practices in our growing field.
