CANADIAN ASSOCIATION OF NEUROPHYSIOLOGICAL MONITORING

The Growth of Neurophysiological Monitoring and the Launch of CANM

Intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring (IOM) is an evolving field of allied heath care, vital to protecting the nervous system of patients undergoing surgery. This crucial adjunct to perioperative procedures is progressively becoming embraced by surgical teams across the country. Evidence supporting the clinical utility of IOM, combined with improvements in technology, has resulted in increasing demand for IOM services. Founded in 2008, the Canadian Association of Neurophysiological Monitoring (CANM) is a national medical association dedicated to providing education, training, and certification for those working in the field and is emerging as the united voice of neurophysiological monitoring professionals in Canada.
